Tabu, an international reference in natural wood dyeing and multilaminar wood technology that has made sustainability its vocation and daily commitment, presented its new collections at the 2023 Salone del Mobile: the Riflessi floor, the inlays made with the natural veneers Ulivo, Perspecto and Aurora, and the “Man in the Mirror” Boiserie. Visitors were welcomed in the Tabu booth, designed by Ad Myra studio, inside an installation named “Nuvola / Cloud” made up of more than 700 wooden boards in 20 different colors reflected on a mirrored floor.

For the Fuorisalone, in the “Casa Tabu” showroom, a space located in the heart of the prestigious Brera district and dedicated to Beauty, the pleasure of designing with wood and education on the latest generation of wood surfaces, the company has celebrated the Milanese writer Alessandro Manzoni, 150 years after his death, through the exhibition of 12 faces of characters from the famous novel I Promessi Sposi, created on the surface of fine inlays. Unique pieces specially designed and handcrafted by the inlayer Mario Moriggi, aimed at creating a unique and refined play of overlapping planes, visible in transparency.

RIFLESSI

Wood flooring created with TABU natural dyed veneers, inspired by porphyry floors. These multicolored carpets have a surface with 8×8, 16×16, 32×32, 64×64 cm modules: a new trend in wooden floors.

ULIVO

Inlay, made with valuable and natural dyed veneers of many wood species. Inspired by the centuries-old olive trees of the Gargano, in the warm and sunny summer days, and the large and thick foliage that inebriates the view of a thousand and a thousand reflections… It is from this memory that the idea of the “Ulivo” marquetry was born. Starting from the study of the shape of the olive leaf and its twigs, reworked through a process of geometrization and synthesis of the forms themselves, both arrive at a fantasy based on elongated hexagons arranged in herringbone. For this project we use 4 natural dyed veneers in shades ranging from green to beige. A second color variant uses brown and beige shades. Design: Giovanni di Mauro, Accademia di Brera, Winner of the Contest IDEASxWOOD 22/23, Student Category

PERSPECTO

Inlay, made with valuable and natural dyed veneers of many wood species. Perspecto, from the Latin “perspicio”, ie see through, see beyond. The wood from solid and opaque material becomes translucent and, if superimposed, generates new shades and gradations of color. Removing matter from wood gives a composition that deceives the eye, making it look lighter. Design: Francesca Badame e Anna Farina, La Sapienza University in Rome, Winners of the Contest IDEASxWOOD 21/22, Student Category

AURORA

Inlay, made with valuable and natural dyed veneers of many wood species. The design was inspired by the moments of dawn with the superimposition of light to the darkness; a wonderful light texture with dark colors. Design: Aziz Alkass, Winner of the Contest IDEASxWOOD 21/22, Professional Category
